Reed Michael Jones

I paint images from my life in oils, viewed from a canoe, or bike or walking the dog.  These images come from my neighborhood, other countries, bike paths, parks and nature preserves - wherever a special visual opportunity presents itself.  In my work, I strive to communicate what made the moment or the image so compelling for me.

My favorite artists are Chuck Close, Francis Bacon, Gerhard Richter and Jean-Michel Basquiat.  Each of these artists excites a different part of my brain.  Each doggedly pursued and perfected working processes that helped them communicate their ideas and emotions.  I'm still developing my working processes and honing my paint handling skills so I can say what I want to say on each canvas.
